Step Off the Mind-Train

step-off-the-mind-train

We’ve all been there at one time or another. Worrying, looping thoughts of concern.

Feeling like we’re going mad. Same old negative or worrying patterns surfacing again.

Feeling tormented by thought and the emotions that follow.

This is when we need to Remember…

Thoughts are simply objects moving through the mental field.

They only seem powerful when we identify with them, feed them and forget who we truly are.

At times we will find ourselves back on the mind-train — attention looping through familiar patterns,

round and round the tracks, again and again.

What to do?

Quietly, wordlessly… step off the mind-train.

Come onto the platform.

Turn attention toward the simple sense of ‘I’ — that which is prior to thought.

The silent witness. The neutral observer.

That which is aware of thought arising,

and notices the emotion that follows.

Rest as this.

And recognise:

These thoughts, these emotions… are not what I am.

They come and go.

I remain.

In this seeing, a space opens.

The silent witness holds no judgement, no expectation.

Thought appears… and passes.

Unaffecting.

Turn away from the objects — thoughts and emotions — and return to the subject… ‘I’.

Remain as the ever-present awareness

in which all experience arises and dissolves.

The sky is ever-present.

Clouds and storms come and go.

Lightning flashes, winds move — yet the sky remains, untouched.

In the same way, mental and emotional storms arise and pass.

Remain as the presence in which they appear.

The Seer.

The Silent Witness.

Ever free.

As I Am.
