TRE ® Tension-Trauma Release Exercises

Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises

Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (or TRE®) is a simple yet innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep neurological and muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. It calms the nervous system and allows the body to return to a state of balance.

Relaxing our nervous system is absolutely vital in restoring health, harmony and happiness to our lives.

Created by Dr. David Berceli, PhD, TRE ® safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, thus calming down the nervous system. When this neurogenic muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of relaxation and balance.

Dr David Berceli developed TRE from his observations working in war torn countries and disaster areas for many years. This is a simple and effective way of activating the bodies natural natural self-regulatory system to release tension.

TRE is learned progressively with an instructor to oversee and support the process. Once learned under guidance it can be integrated into your life to dispel tension, long held trauma and support balance of the nervous system. It is now used extensively for stress and trauma release in individuals, war veterans, athletes and high achievers.

This revolutionary somatic (body based) process is now being used to support individuals with daily stresses and physical tension, those in high stress situations such as disaster areas, or to reduce symptoms PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). The neurogenic tremors have an affect on the nervous system that is both deeply relaxing and calming.

It can be integrated with other therapies as a self-help tool, and once learned it can be used when needed. As a therapist I combine TRE  with yoga therapy, breath-work, naturopathy and lifestyle changes. TRE can be taught in groups or individually.
