Mangalam is just 5 minutes drive from Palmwoods or Montville. Tucked away Mangalam offers a peaceful quiet space for contemplation, yoga and meditation. Mangalam is surrounded by forest, birdsong and tropical gardens. Discover the many meditation spots hidden in the foliage.
Tuesdays Yoga and Meditation class @ Mangalam
Venue: 32 Country Rd Palmwoods, Sunshine Coast
includes gentle yoga asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), yoga nidra relaxation and meditation.
Tuesdays: 6.30pm – 8.00pm
What we’ll need: Yoga Mat, Block (optional), Cushion, bolster, rolled towel or blanket and a rug for warmth during relaxations.
Soraya is a master teacher in the hatha yoga tradition and trained in Australia and India. Soraya’s completed the latest training in Yoga Therapy. Classes are limited in numbers so she can offer personalised support.
Soraya and partner Terry Oldfield are spiritual musicians so the class begins with live music.
Traditional yoga practices are presented with mindfulness, yoga nidra and breath work.

What is Yoga Therapy
Yoga therapy is a holistic approach to restoring a health and vitality, body, mind and spirit by applying the practices of yoga and meditation.
Yoga Therapy is the selective use of various yoga tools — such as posture, breathing techniques, relaxation and meditation, as well as dietary and lifestyle advice. Yoga Therapy aims at restoring balance, harmony and health.
A yoga therapist performs detailed holistic assessments of each client—evaluating body, mind, spirit, diet and environment—to then craft a personalised yoga program.

MEDITATION is for everyone
Answer: Meditation is the practice of Being with What Is. Our problem is that we focus on the mind train of thoughts and begin to identify with and believe the thoughts. We are not our mind or the thoughts passing through. We will never win if we try to fight with the mind. Initially we practice mindfulness and learn to notice when we are caught up in a loop of thought and release it. This practice can seem to go on infinitum. Ultimately though, meditation is to remain present to arisings of the moment without focusing on any one thing be it thought, sound or body – with regular practice of mindful awareness and observation the mind will quieten of its own accord.
There is not forcing the mind to be anything. There is an awakening of the ability to step back and understand you are not this mind train of thought. All phenomena is like clouds passing in the sky. In this way we become less reactive and judgemental.
Allowing ourselves space to sit quietly or move mindfully while holding an expansive, open, non-judgemental state of being can be deeply nourishing.
On a physical level: Science has shown Meditation can reduce the stress response. Blood pressure reduces, breathing slows and cells rejuvenate.
Stress is a key factor in Dis-ease whether that be in the body, mind or spirit. Disharmony created by stress reflects in all experience. With right guidance meditation becomes pleasurable and comfortable offering you inner calm and the ability to be with what is.
Step by step guidance initially helps the practitioner towards the experience inner stillness. Soraya also teaches Breathing techniques (pranayama) that calm and quieten the mind for meditation.
Terry shares his soul stirring flute magic during these Classes as music allows to go go beyond the thinking mind.
These classes are perfect for stress management encourage you on a deep inward journey toward peace.
